There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that contains many luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
