There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of most borders.
The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous luxuries aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
