The entire process of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a risk at the current time, so you may think that there would be very little desire for visiting Zimbabwe’s gambling halls. Actually, it seems to be operating the other way, with the desperate economic conditions creating a greater ambition to bet, to try and locate a quick win, a way out of the situation.
For nearly all of the people subsisting on the meager nearby wages, there are 2 dominant forms of gambling, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with almost everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lottery where the chances of succeeding are remarkably tiny, but then the prizes are also extremely big. It’s been said by economists who look at the idea that the majority don’t purchase a card with a real assumption of profiting. Zimbet is centered on either the national or the UK football divisions and involves predicting the outcomes of future matches.
Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, look after the exceedingly rich of the country and tourists. Up until a short while ago, there was a very large tourist industry, built on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and connected conflict have carved into this market.
Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree Casino, which has just the slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which have table games, slots and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, both of which offer slot machines and tables.
In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling halls and the previously talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of two horse racing complexes in the nation: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.
Since the economy has shrunk by more than forty percent in recent years and with the connected deprivation and bloodshed that has come to pass, it is not understood how well the sightseeing business which funds Zimbabwe’s gambling dens will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will survive until conditions get better is basically not known.
