The complete number of Kyrgyzstan casinos is a fact in some dispute. The state, in common with almost all of the ex-Soviet Union, has experienced something of a rapid conversion to commercialism. The Wild East, you could say, to reference the chaotic ways of the Wild West an aeon and a half back.
Kyrgyzstan’s casinos are certainly worth going to, therefore, as a piece of social analysis, to see money being gambled as a form of civil one-upmanship, the conspicuous consumption that Thorstein Veblen spoke about in 19th century usa.
